When Superstorm Sandy hit Rhode Island on Oct. 30, 2012, it flooded the Scarborough Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF).  To help prevent future storm damage, Senator Reed led efforts to secure a $1 million Community Development Block Grant, Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) to help the town with its long-term mitigation efforts to prevent future storm damage.

Senator Reed joined Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Congressman Jim Langevin, officials from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM), and others in touring the newly completed resiliency improvements.
