Reed Condemns the Shooting of Charlie Kirk
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, after Charlie Kirk, co-founder of a young conservatives organization, was shot at an event at Utah Valley University, U.S. Senator Jack Reed condemned the assassination attempt, stating:
“I strongly condemn this reprehensible attack and hope Mr. Kirk will be okay and the shooter is brought to justice.
“You can disagree, debate, and demonstrate. But free speech is a Constitutional right. Political violence is unacceptable and doesn’t solve disagreements. In fact, it undermines the very foundation of our democracy and only serves to sow division, hate, and fear. Regardless of our differences, we must come together to condemn gun violence, reject political violence, and work to become a stronger community more unified nation.”
