WASHINGTON, DC – Today, after President Donald Trump granted clemency and pardons to several people, including former Congressional Republican allies, campaign operatives ensnared in the Russia probe, and Blackwater contractors convicted of murdering 14 unarmed civilians in Iraq in 2007, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) issued the following statement:

“President Trump pardoned a host of convicted felons tonight who engaged in corrupt behavior, from violence against unarmed civilians, including children, to politicians and partisan operatives who plead guilty to self-enrichment, and a host of other crimes.  These pardons are just another brick in a path of President Trump’s failed leadership and highlight his propensity for self-dealing.”
