WASHINGTON, DC – Today, after U.S. forces captured Ahmed Abu Khatallah, one of the alleged ringleaders of the terrorist attacks in Benghazi on U.S. personnel and facilities that killed four Americans -- Ambassador Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, and Tyrone Woods -- U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement:

“The capture of Khatallah, who was one of the suspected ringleaders of the Benghazi terrorist attacks on U.S. personnel, signals that we will never give up in searching for those individuals who attack or threaten the United States.

“This was a complex operation.  It was coordinated with our FBI and special operations forces and the intelligence community.  It demonstrates not only the reach, but the unrelenting effort to track down, disrupt, and dismantle these terrorist groups and preempt them before they can strike and certainly bring them to justice if they do strike.

“He is already indicted.  He will be brought to trial on charges of terrorism and many other charges, and the court will decide his fate.”
